What the birth of AI means for PR agencies

Updated: Apr 12, 2023

It’s not just about content creation. Not at all. Although AI content creation is not to be sneezed at.

The truth is that AI has been here for years. It’s built into platforms like Meltwater, Cision and CoverageBook. Their AI algorithms streamline the process of creating PR reports by automatically analysing and compiling media coverage, measuring key performance metrics, and generating visual reports. And think of Google Maps… how does it predict routes and traffic so well? And Spotify… how does it know which music you’ll like? It’s all down to AI.

So what’s new?

Simply that you, a human, can now interface directly with this super-intelligence with just your own words. That’s what ChatGPT did. And it’s a game-changer. Ultra-rapid adoption is currently under way and it will transform PR, just like everything else. By the end of the year, the world will be a very different place.

You will soon see “large language models” (the technical name for this stuff) showing up everywhere. For example, Microsoft have just announced their new “copilot” for Office. It will be there in apps like Word and PowerPoint and you’ll be able to just tell the app what you want it do to. And, like magic, it will be done.

But what can you do right now?

Your best bet right now, is to start thinking “with” the AI. To utilise it as an extension of your own creative processes. Here are some ideas:

1. Brainstorm Campaign Ideas: Just input your initial thoughts or prompts to receive a range of creative suggestions that can be further developed or refined.

2. Crafting Attention-Grabbing Headlines: Generate a variety of attention-grabbing headlines and subject lines for press releases, email pitches, and social media content.

3. Content Strategy Development: Get help with relevant topics, formats, and channels, tailored to specific clients, audiences, or industries.

Sign in to ChatGPT and give it a try.
